Marinara Sauce

This is the basic marinara sauce that I use as for all kinds of pasta, pizza and meatloaf.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups passata (tomato puree)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • salt & pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Sauté garlic in the olive oil until it just begins to change color.
  2. Add basil, thyme and oregano and stir until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add passata, season with salt and pepper, and bring just to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
