This is the basic marinara sauce that I use as for all kinds of pasta, pizza and meatloaf.
Ingredients
- 2 cups passata (tomato puree)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
- salt & pepper to taste
Directions
- Sauté garlic in the olive oil until it just begins to change color.
- Add basil, thyme and oregano and stir until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add passata, season with salt and pepper, and bring just to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
